CityGuide Saarbrücken

Saarbrücken is intimately connected with the “Neue Bremm” camp; memorials and monuments commemorate this tragic episode. Today the city’s alliance with its neighboring country France results in many cultural highlights such as the annual French and German theatre festival “Perspectives” in which a lively combination of theatre, dance and circus is presented to the public. The State Theatre provides the crème de la crème of opera, theatre and ballet whilst numerous museums - in particular the Saarland Museum - exhibit exceptional modern art. Saarland’s Cultural Heritage Foundation offers many institutions - such as the German Newspaper Museum or the Saarland Artists’ House - the opportunity to exhibit many different types of art. It is no wonder that many artists began their career in Saarbrücken, this city being an active sponsor of music, theatre and youth education.
