The painter Wilhelm Steinhausen had this house constructed for himself and his family, living there until his death in 1924. Steinhausen also had an observatory built on the roof which has remained intact to this day. The house survived the air raids of World War II and now is property of the city of Frankfurt. It has been housing the Wilhelm Steinhausen museum since 1987 and features numerous works, sketches, designs, letters and secondary literature as well as an authentic atelier and a fresco.
