The Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt is one of Germany's most renowned exhibition spaces. It has hosted approximately 180 exhibitions since its establishment in 1986, including exhibitions on Viennese Jugendstil, expressionism, dada, surrealism and impressionism as well as on the history of photography, art and consumption, visual art under Stalin, romanticism in modern art. The Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt has also organised exhibitions on artists such as Wassily Kandinsky, Marc Chagall, Alberto Giacometti, Frida Kahlo, Bill Viola, Arnold Schönberg, Henri Matisse, Julian Schnabel, James Lee Byars, Yves Klein and Carsten Nicolai. It addresses controversial issues as well as presenting contemporary interpretations of artists' oeuvres, providing its visitors both with unique exhibitions and exciting cultural discussions.
