The museum of archeology is dedicated to researching, presenting and providing information on the
prehistoric, Roman, medieval and more recent archaeology of Frankfurt and the surrounding areas. We preserve and exhibit discoveries of importance for the region and for the city. Most of our findings come from extensive excavations. Locations include the Roman town of NIDA-Heddernheim, Frankfurt's old town and the former Jewish ghetto at Börneplatz. New digs are organised every year by the department for historical monuments.
